Sugar Substitutes are NOT Healthy

From Karen Hanrahan:  We are all born with an innate craving for sweetness, a desire that served our ancestors well in the form of fruit or honeycomb that offered a quick source of natural energy. Now hidden sugars in foods, drinks can cause problems; including obesity. Many turn to artificial sweeteners as weight loss aids.
84% of Americans use sugar substitutes.

Dr Weil does not recommend them. He says there is little evidence that they help anyone slim down and some research says that artificial sweeteners may interfere with the body’s natural ability to judge a food’s caloric content by sweetness, making people more likely to over indulge in sweet foods and beverages.
Most artificial sweeteners have seemed safe at first, only to prove harmful later.

It Takes 90 Days

In September Tom and I made our commitment to present the Biz Op to  3  5 people a week.  That changed our whole focus about who to present to.

We no longer eliminated  people from our list before showing it to them. "She won't do this, she doesn't have any money" etc. We no longer were attached to the outcome, we didn't have an expectation of them saying yes, we just HAD to show this to 3 to 5 people, so "Come over and look at this, I just need to hit my numbers of presentations for the week" was a phrase we used often...

And so we did, every  week, 3 - 5 people. And we got "no" after "no". "No Thank you" "Not for me" , "No I don't know anyone who'd want to do this" and of course the people who just disappeared into the Prospect Protection Program". :-) Never to return a call again...
In September, we sponsored in 2 members. Sigh.  But you kept telling us to just keep going.
In October we sponsored in NO ONE!!! Grrrrrrr! But you kept telling us to just keep going.

So far in November we've sponsored in 2 Members, 4 Distributors who want to refer people to us, and 1 Gold Ambassador on the Fast Track!  Amazing! AND we closed the office for 9 days to go on the Cruise, and people were off for Thanksgiving!
Just a word about how many contacts I needed to make with these people. I started talking with one woman in July!!!!  I looked at my notes and I called or emailed her 14 TIMES!! She never said no, she just didn't have time, or the focus, but I saw her at the riding stable every couple weeks and we'd make a date to talk.

And, let us not forget that the four new distributors came from a  "flow" that took  at least a year to evolve, from our downstairs neighbor who moved to Connecticut  and had a friend who we  developed into a distributor after a YEAR of using products, she introduced us to the four new distributors we have now. And we're not ready to close
out the month yet! Tomorrow I'm doing a facial in Westport CT and another Biz Op on Tuesday.

So the message is DON'T GIVE UP!    Keep on  "Showing the the Deal!" as Jim Burke told us 8 years ago... Take the actions and let go of the results.  Listen to your Business Leaders.  And Never, Never Give UP!

Inspirational call with Brenda McCumons

Last week I had a conference call with Brenda McCumons who is a Senior Coordinator.  Brenda has been in Shaklee for 28 years and for the last 10 years has averaged earnings of over $60,000 a year.  Brenda and John are also in the group that Roger Barnett has recognized as earning over $1 million in their Shaklee career.  Brenda and John are two very successful people in this great business.

I heard Brenda give a talk in early October about how and why her business has changed over the past 3 or 4 months.  As I heard her tell how her business changed, I felt I had to ask Brenda if she would be willing to be on a conference call and talk about what has taken place that helped her change her goals and future in Shaklee.   You know Brenda because of her MS story....that is NOT part of this call.

The following is the information for you to listen to this recorded call if you so desire.  I know you'll be inspired as well as learn some key things about being focused.  The call is approximately 30 minutes and I am interviewing Brenda....we are in a conversation basically.   ENJOY and LEARN! - Gary Burke

MORE DREAM CALLS!

Next Opportunity Call:Tuesday, November 23Call-in Information:1-512-703-6155
Vivian GarciaThis week's Opportunity Call features two young Business Leaders, each drawn to the Shaklee opportunity shortly after they graduated from college.  Executive Coordinator Vivian Garcia grew up in Shaklee.  Because of her parents' Shaklee business, she was aware of everything that Shaklee had to offer.  But after graduating from college, she realized that her options didn't exactly fit with the lifestyle she'd been dreaming about.  It made her wonder, could there be something better out there?  When her friends pointed out the obvious, that what she could accomplish on her own terms in Shaklee could offer her the lifestyle that she and all of her friends were hoping to build, Vivian decided to start her own Shaklee business.  As a result, Vivian has a thriving business that has not only given her the chance to earn a career income based on her own effort, but has also given her the opportunity to travel internationally, and to enjoy her own version of the American Dream.
Carlos GuadamuzWhen Coordinator Carlos Guadamuz graduated from college, he too was faced with choices that didn't seem very compelling to him.  Fortunately, he had already been introduced to Shaklee products and had a great experience with them.  When his sponsor introduced him to the Shaklee opportunity, he realized that this was a model of doing business that was perfectly aligned with technology that allows us to connect with people everywhere today, quick as a click.  Because Carlos had a deep appreciation for the philosophy and mission of the company and the quality of the products, it was easy for Carlos to conclude that building a business in Shaklee was the perfect choice for him.

From Sarah Stauber - Shaklee Master Coordinator

Here's what I learned from Carolyn, tell people upfront about the value of our products.  She makes it very clear that they will save money and save the planet by using our products and in todays economy "save money" is what everyone wants to hear.  Carolyn does a great job at explaining that.

I spoke to Carolyn and asked her how she invites folks to her events? So here are some points that may help you, It's not only about inviting I'm sharing some other tips as well.
  • Qualify your prospects-- see who wants to join you in the business. Would you like to earn money by building a Shaklee business.
  • Do you know 30 people who clean their homes?
  • Have them invite 5-10 people who want to switch brands, save money & make a difference
  • If you find 30 families who switch brands and most will buy for $75.00 to $100.00 worth of product a month AND you find 2 people who will do the same that will put you into a brand new car from Shaklee.
  • when she finishes presenting the cleaning & water products she says "here's some money in your budget to buy health"  (so for people who are not buying vitamins yet she had just shown them how they can afford it.)
  • She knows her audience in advance.  If she talks to college kids her product message is a bit different than if she talks to those who have diabetes or age related problems.
  • She prepares SBOSS invoices in the name of the hostess and she puts in the products that she talks about.  so if they want to place an order they take such a form and put their info on it, she takes it home and processes the order. (this is a great idea)
  • She does about 3 meetings with her new groups where she goes through the entire catalog so they can learn about all the products, not only about the 9 products that she has displayed at her meetings.
  • Carolyn does not call her events "parties"  she feels that people don't like it and it doesn't sound like a business.
  • She also hands out product guides at her events to folks that look serious about what she has to offer.
I want to re-iterate a point, I feel it's important to pick up ideas and continuously to polish your skills in Shaklee. However when you hear information on how people run their business you might be tempted to switch and try what the other person is doing.  This can lead to disaster.
It's not in the how, it's in the how many..... So tweak an idea or two but don't change what you are doing, and go out and do a bunch of meetings.

Success to all.

Story About DIALYSIS & RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

DIALYSIS & RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS
I can remember being very sick when I was 2 years old.  My kidney infections were so bad and I had such severe hives that my mother would put me on a little pallet in front of the door to keep me cool.
When I was 30, the doctor informed me that I had Rheumatoid Arthritis throughout my body; he prescribed Indocen. My fingers were full of nodules and stiff.  Herb, my husband, had to pull me out of bed each morning to get me on my feet; I was so stiff, I couldn’t do it myself.
I have been using Shaklee for 35 years.  I have been re-tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis and the doctor said I do not have it anymore.  I don’t have trouble with my blood sugar like I did either.   I just thank the Lord for leading me to the doctor who was responsible for introducing me to the Shaklee Food Supplements, because it had resulted in restoring my health.
In 2010, my doctor wanted to put me on dialysis, because my body kept creating kidney stones/infections; my creatinine level was over 4.  I didn’t want to go there three times a week, so I said NO!
He said I would die if I didn’t and I told him that was OK, because I was a Christian and I was ready anytime the Lord wanted me. I increased my Vivix from one teaspoon to two tablespoons daily and after six months, to my doctor’s surprise, my creatinine level dropped to 1.0 which falls in the normal range for women of 0.5 to 1.1. Now, I go to the Nephrologist only once a quarter!
